From Kayak Wiki

I installed this Wiki site to allow Playak readers to share their knowledge more directly. I have no idea if this whole concept will actually work in the paddling community, but if it does, I think it can become an extremely useful tool for all.
Let's just see if and how this develops.
Feel free to add your own contributions. Main thing: it should be about sharing knowledge, i.e. Destinations, technique articles etc etc.
The main difference with Playak will probably be that this Wiki is a general purpose knowledge base. Playak focuses more on news, forums and on special applications, such as the calendar and the boats database. Maybe we will at some point put all river descriptions in this wiki.

- After looking at pictures of Skook for years, we are finally here! Bryan Kirk, Todd and I made it up late Thursday evening just in time to meet up with our friend and photographer Trevor Clark as well as catch the wave before sunset. Skookumchuck Tidal Rapids are located just outside of Egmont, BC along the Sechelt Inlet. During ebbtide, as the tide flows out the inlet towards the ocean, the wave doesn't even exist. Once the water in the inlet gets low enough, the tide switches, and water rushes back in to fill the inlet. As this happens, the wave begins to build, and usually peaks about two hours after slack tide. You can surf the wave as it begins to build all the way to the peak and back down to slack tide. During the end of July, the tides are set so the wave is coming in later and later each day. Thursday the wave peaked at 6:00pm (we could start surfing at 4:00), and tonight (Tuesday), it is peaking at 8:30 pm, meaning we can start surfing at 6:30pm. To get to the wave you can go either by boat or by land, hiking about 4km to the wave on a sweet trail through the BC forest.

- This years Gorge Games was an awesome time and for me brought back memories of years passed! A crew of Portland paddlers including myself, Willie Illingworth , Johny Ott , and Ryan Young headed out Saturday to do safety for the Extreme Race. We met up with a crew from Hood River at the take out went through a safety debriefing and headed up to the put-in. I was stoked to see Matt Gaudett and his friend Garreth who were also doing safety. The level was right around 3 feet and was looking really nice. We put in and headed down to set up safety fro the Extreme Race.
